Jesus called the children over to him and said, ” Let the children come to me! People who are like these children belong to God’s kingdom” Luke 18:16
Children are an important part of our family at Oak Ridge Presbyterian. It is our hope to help children grow in Christ and feel the love of Jesus Christ in all of our worship and educational opportunities.
Nursery and Toddler childcare is offered during our 10am worship service. With the help of paid nursery staff and volunteers, the infants and toddlers at ORPC have a safe and loving environment while parents enjoy worship and Sunday school.
Sunday School for children begins at 9am with a gathering time of songs with classes following. Classes end at 9:45am. Our classes are currently using the lectionary based ” Feasting on the Word” curriculum, which allows great conversation between kids and parents helping to connect with worship. Sunday school takes a break in the summer from mid-June until after Labor Day.
Children’s worship is offered for children ages 4 through 2nd grade. Children begin in the worship service with their families and are then invited to go to Children’s worship where they explore their faith through Bible stories, prayer and experience. Based on Montessori principles, Children’s worship invites children to grow in Christian faith through story, play and wonder.
Children’s Choirs meet in the fall and spring and sing in worship for Advent, Holy Week and other times. Children also participate in a Christmas program during Advent.
SOUL FROGS is our 4th and 5th grade youth group at ORPC. This group meets once a month and helps create relationships before transitioning to the middle and high school youth group. Activities include team building, service projects, fellowship and faith exploration.
