Children’s Ministry at ORPC

Jesus welcomed children into his ministry at every turn, so we at ORPC try to do the same. There are a number of opportunities spread throughout the year for children to worship, grow, and connect with each other, with the church, and with God. Children will always have a home at ORPC.

Children In Worship

Nursery and Toddler

Childcare is offered during our 10:00 a.m. worship service through 2nd Hour Classes. With the help of paid nursery staff and volunteers, the infants and toddlers at ORPC have a safe and loving environment while parents enjoy worship and Sunday school.

Children’s Worship

Children's Worship is offered for children ages 4 through 2nd grade. Children begin in the worship service with their families and are then invited to go to Children’s worship where they explore their faith through Bible stories, prayer, and experience. Based on Montessori principles, Children’s worship invites children to grow in Christian faith through story, play, and wonder.

Children’s Choirs

Children's Choirs meet in the fall and spring and sing in worship for Advent, Holy Week and other times. Children also participate in a Christmas program during Advent.

Worship Tables

Children are also always welcome to stay in the Sanctuary service. Inside the Sanctuary, there are tables set on the right hand side for children or families who want to stay together in the Sanctuary worship. At these tables, there are coloring materials, modeling dough, and numerous quiet, fidget toys.

There are a number of fun events this summer for children and families at ORPC. While there is no “traditional” Vacation Bible School, ORPC creates our own annual, intergenerational event that we call the Community Table. Below you will find a list of key summer dates coming up!

  • June 12th, 11:15am – Meet. Greet. Sweet. Treat. – Meet our new Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry, Chris Morgan, outside the Fellowship House after worship  for quick popsicles. This is for any child up to fifth grade and their families.

  • June 26th, 11:15am – The Church Will Play – While Pastor Marti leaves on Sabbatical, the church will follow the lead of our children and PLAY! Join us after service for a congregation wide event that will have lots of fun games and activities for families with children of all ages.

  • July 10th, 11:15am – Children’s Field Day Fun – In the heat of July, come ready to get wet! We’ll play a bunch of water games using sponges, water balloons, balls, etc. Bring a change of clothes for after worship; parents will have a chance to mingle and catch up after the service.

  • August 3rd – Community Table – An intergenerational ministry of the church that combines food with Bible stories and interactive stations. Our biggest event of the summer!

  • August 7th – Children’s Summer Wrap Up – Join us one last time for fun in the sun before school returns. Celebrate the summer and lets play some games together! This is for any child up to fifth grade; there will be a chance for parents to mingle and catch up while we are outside playing.
