Children’s Ministry at ORPC

Jesus welcomed children into his ministry at every turn, so we at ORPC try to do the same. There are a number of opportunities spread throughout the year for children to worship, grow, and connect with each other, with the church, and with God. Children will always have a home at ORPC.

Children In Worship

Nursery and Toddler

Childcare is offered during our 10:00 a.m. worship service through 2nd Hour Classes. With the help of paid nursery staff and volunteers, the infants and toddlers at ORPC have a safe and loving environment while parents enjoy worship and Sunday school.

Children’s Worship

Children's Worship is offered for children ages 4 through 2nd grade. Children begin in the worship service with their families and are then invited to go to Children’s worship where they explore their faith through Bible stories, prayer, and experience. Based on Montessori principles, Children’s worship invites children to grow in Christian faith through story, play, and wonder.

Worship Tables

Children are also always welcome to stay in the Sanctuary service. Inside the Sanctuary, there are tables set on the right hand side for children or families who want to stay together in the Sanctuary worship. At these tables, there are coloring materials, modeling dough, and numerous quiet, fidget toys.

Kirk Club

Kirk Club (Kirk is a common Presbyterian word, coming from Scottish roots, meaning "Church") is a new group that is starting in the fall for 3rd-5th graders at the church. It will meet in the Fellowship House once a month (usually the first Sunday -- September is the exception because of Labor Day) for an hour after church, 11:15-12:15. Kirk Club will consist of community building and faith formation -- after all, we have to play together before we can pray together. We'll snack, play games, do activities, and have meaningful conversation about faith. See the schedule below:

    • September 11th: Kirk Club Kick Off!

    • October 2nd: Snack on World Communion Sunday

    • November 6th: The ART of Thanksgiving

    • December 4th: Kirk Club Christmas Party!

PassportKIDS Eagle Eye 2023

Massanetta Middle School Conference is a hands-on, faith filled experience in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. Completed fifth graders from Kirk Club will be eligible to join other middle schoolers from ORPC’s youth group and from across the country gather to participate in keynote, recreation, music, and small “Encounter Groups” led by an outstanding group of high school and adult leaders. The theme this year will be released in September, but you can start registration here.
